Top Ten List
This has been a great vacation. As you may know, I am in Los Angeles for a few days, and I notice that I have learned a lot. In fact, here are ten things I have figured out during my stay in California.
10.There are a whole bunch of languages and dialects out here. I was trying to count them up at LAX the other day, and I ran out of fingers. Then when I moved the tuner up and down the radio dial I heard a lot more. It kind of reminded me of the 1960's Batman movie, when they spilled the magic powder and everyone changed languages. That was right after Batman got out of trouble with a shark by using the repellent that was in his utility belt. Once that was dealt with, he summoned that Bat boat to get to the United Nations to try to save the world. You can't tell me you don't remember that.
9. Geography. After the SC scrimmage on Saturday, I went to dinner at a Mexican Restaurant that was in Koreatown. The food was incredible. I wonder I go to Olveria Street (the Mexican area) in LA would I find great Italian food?
8. Ancient History. The LA Coliseum has one cornerstone from the the ancient Roman Coliseum, and one from ancient Greece. So, I was able to study the older civilizations, all the while I was watching USC's offensive line. I got right on that.
7. Walking on Newport Beach in the early morning in kind of neat. Actually it is real neat. The dogs like it also.
6. I learned why LA Dodger fans leave Chavez Ravine in the seventh inning. There is something to be said about beating the traffic and getting home before one. Which leads to the next point.
5. Being on time is very courteous. Thus, leave early. Like two hours. You can never tell about traffic on the 405.
4. Speaking of traffic. While driving the LA freeways, you can have the same experience that Dale, Jr. does, when he is on the backstretch of Darlington. Hang on for dear life!!
3. Paris Hilton lives here. I think Betty White does also.
2. New disasters. Where I am from, we have floods, tornadoes and blizzards. In California, it's fires and earthquakes. Time to educated mysef with a whole new set of readiness and evacuation procedures.Great, I am never too old to learn!!
And finally the number one thing I learned while spending time in LA
1. In and Out Burgers are to die for. And the fish taco's at Rubio's are a close second.. Got to love it...
We will talk soon
